2004 NWS EASTERN
REGION
Communications Identifiers (CID) Final Transition |
|
Overview
Effective November 9, 2004 at 1600
coordinated universal time /UTC/ the final all encompassing /combined/ phase
of the NWS communication identifer /cid/ transition plan will be
implemented. The NWS continues to
standardize all communications identifiers (CID) to meet NWS AND World
Meteorological Organization (WMO) CID Policies. NWS CIDS consist of
the
WMO Heading on one line followed by the
AWIPS Identifier on a second line.
Earlier in 2004, Weather Forecast Offices in Eastern Region
of the National Weather Service transitioned to their end-state
WMO Abbreviated heading lines
(i.e. WMO headers) for non aviation forecasts, tropical cyclone products.
This transition will also include products from Eastern Region River
Forecast Centers.
November
9, 2004 Goal (Backup date November 16, 2004)
The goal is to have all communication
identifiers (CID) of all products issued by all NWS' offices transitioned to
"end state"
WMO headers.
