THE DANGER OF RIDING ON THE BOW OF A BOAT
United States Coast Guard Auxiliary Grand Strand, South Carolina

Although riding on the bow of a boat may seem fun, it is very dangerous. Also,

IT IS AGAINST THE LAW...

To be safe, passengers should not ride on the bow, transom, seat backs, or
gunwale. If your boat encounters a wake or a wave with speed it could easily
throw a person overboard and into the propeller. Passengers should always remain
seated while a boat is moving, and should always wear a life jacket.

A LIFE JACKET COULD SAVE YOUR LIFE

...BUT ONLY IF YOU WEAR IT !!!

Be sure to visit the Grand Strand Coast Guard Auxiliary's booth at the Blue Crab
Festival on May 18th or May 19th. You can get info on boating classes and vessel
safety checks by the Grand Strand Coast Guard Auxiliary at the festival, or call
843-280-7308, or 843-249-8782 for information.
