...FLOAT PLANS... THE FOLLOWING IS A
SAFE BOATING MESSAGE FROM THE CAPE FEAR POWER SQUADRON
Going on an extended trip in your boat? Maybe fishing offshore?
It's a good idea to file a Float Plan with someone in case you have a problem and need assistance.
Float plans are simple: Write down who you are, where you are going and your route, when you left
and when you expect to return. Describe you boat: type, size, color and name. Leave this written
info with a friend or relative. Also leave a copy of it on the dashboard of your car at the Marina
or launch site from.
Tell your friend or relative that you will call him/her when you arrive back. If you don't show up or call at your
expected arrival time, your buddy can initiate a search (via the US Coast Guard). If you are missing,
this float plan may save your life if folks know you are missing and can backtrack your plan/route.
