...THE DANGERS OF BOW RIDING... THE FOLLOWING IS A
SAFE BOATING MESSAGE FROM THE UNITED STATES COAST GUARD AUXILIARY SOUTHPORT
One of the most dangerous things you can do while boating is be a bow rider. All to often we see
people either sitting on the bow of a boat with their feet hanging over the edge or sitting on the
bow railing enjoying their ride.
In most cases people are unaware that if you lose balance and fall overboard the boat is going to
run over you. We read all too often of this happening and the person being seriously injured by the
engines propeller. While this seems to be one of the most exciting places to ride it is also the most
dangerous.
Please, when boating be aware of this danger and help keep your loved ones safe by asking them to
return to the middle part of the boat where it is much safer. Also remember, children under 13 are
required to wear a life jacket while under way.

BROUGHT TO YOU BY... THE UNITED STATES COAST GUARD AUXILIARY SOUTHPORT ...YOU'RE IN
COMMAND. BOAT RESPONSIBLY!... $$ |
