The United States Coast Guard Auxiliary and Vessel Safety Checks United States Coast Guard Auxiliary Hampstead
Your local U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary is vital in providing
boating safety and skills training to recreational boaters.
With auxiliary flotillas located locally in Hampstead,
Wilmington, Wrightsville Beach, Southport, Shallotte-
Calabash, Grand Strand, and Georgetown you can take any
available boating safety and skills training courses, request
vessel safety checks, request boating safety information or
have boating safety lectures provided to your local or civic
group. On weekends and many week days during the boating
season your local flotilla members can be seen on local
waters assisting boaters in need of help. Also, membership
in an auxiliary flotilla is open to U.S. citizens 17 years
or older who wish to provide a valuable service to the
boating public.
You can have your vessel checked by an officer from your
local U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary. This check is provided free
of charge and is intended to insure that your vessel has the
necessary equipment required by law and for your personal
safety. There is no penalty associated with having this check
and any deficiencies will not be reported to enforcement
authorities.
