...SAFE BOATS SAVE LIVES!... THE FOLLOWING IS A
SAFE BOATING MESSAGE FROM THE USCG AUXILIARY WILMINGTON
Have you gotten your free vessel safety check this year? If not, request one today.
There are a group of qualified examiners from the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary and United States Sail and Power Squadrons, who will meet you at your boat for this personal vessel check. There are approximately 15 items that are checked on your boat per state and federal regulations. The examiner will discuss items that are recommended but not required, and answer your questions. If your boat meets those requirements, the Vessel Safety Check (VSC) decal is presented on the spot, along with a copy of the check form.
Why is this important? It is a means of learning and supporting safe boating on our waters. You will know your boat is properly equipped for safety. It also shows that you care enough to be a safe boater. Make sure a current Vessel Safety Check decal is on your boat!
Check websites www.uscgboating.org or www.capefearpowersquadron.com to schedule a Safety Check.
