The application process is simple! 

1. Review the Guidelines section, making sure that all of the requirements are feasible for your school or school district.

2. Contact the National Weather Service forecast office in Wilmington, NC (contact info here); either by email telephone.  Let us know of your interest in making your school or school district StormReady.

3. Locate the applications on the Resource page of this website.

4. Mail the application to:

Applications can also be filled out electronically and emailed to mark.bacon@noaa.gov.

The Spotter Training (requirement #5) course is also available on the Resource page.

StormReady schools/districts will be presented with a certificate and also a sign for outdoor display.  The sign will demonstrate to the community the school's dedication to the safety of the children.  Pictures of the presentation/certification will be posted on our website.
