Additional notes
The curling of the leaves in this photo indicate
the corn crop is undergoing drought stress. The exposed ears are
also showing signs of severe stress with the loss of kernels.
Southern Ohio continues to be plagued with
much-below average rainfall for most of 2007. Currently, the
U.S. Drought
Monitor has classified much of Ohio as D1, or moderate drought.
Portions of far southern Ohio, including portions of Clermont County, have been
classified as D2, or severe drought. D2 conditions extend
southward into parts of northern Kentucky.
