Tail clouds represent inflow of moist air into a thunderstorm updraft
and are a sign that the storm is strengthening. Tail clouds often
point toward the base of a thunderstorm where rotation may be taking
place (the photographer got video of a funnel cloud with this storm).
This storm had produced a tornado in Pendleton County moments before
this photo was taken. |
