    A flash flood caused parts of this road to be washed away. 

    Safety Note:  This photo shows the extreme power rushing water can exert on bridges and roadways.  Never drive across a flooded roadway!  As this photo shows, the road can be seriously damaged and your vehicle may get stuck, or even swept downstream.   Turn around, don't drown!

    Each year, more deaths occur due to flooding than from any other severe weather related hazard. The main reason is people underestimate the force and power of water. More than half of all flood related deaths result from vehicles being swept downstream. Of these, most are preventable.
