Photographer's description:
The entire roof of this house was peeled off by an
EF-1 tornado. The interior suffered severe water damage from heavy rain
and hail. This home also had a large front porch and balcony torn off.
In addition, one of the chimneys collapsed, and some trees in the area were
snapped off toward the top.

Additional notes
The damage in this photo is
consistent with a low-end
EF1
tornado. It generally takes winds of 90 to 95 mph to remove
significant portions of roof covering material and cause a chimney to
collapse. The roof structure itself is still intact, which
prevents this tornado from being classified as a strong
EF1
or
EF2.

Safety Note: This photo shows how roofs and upper levels of homes
are more susceptible to damage when a tornado strikes. For this
reason, always move to the lowest floor of your home or business when a
tornado warning is issued.
