Photographer's description:
This home was moved approximately 3 feet off its
foundation. The roof was torn off, and debris was scattered for hundreds
of yards across a field.
This photo shows
EF1
tornado damage with the loss of a roof and moving the
house slightly, while the walls remained standing and intact. The
winds which damaged this home were probably between 90 and 105 mph.
This tornado was a reminder that the Ohio Valley has a secondary severe
weather season in October and November.
Safety Note: In a single story home without a basement, the
safest place to be is a closet or small room without windows in the
middle of the house. As seen here, roofs are easily removed in
tornadoes. This can cause outer walls of a home to collapse which
will put you in danger.
