Most of the hail was around pea size, but there was mixed-in hail up to 1/2 inch
in size. Total accumulation was 3/8 inch. Total hail amount fell in fifteen
minutes.

Even though surface temperatures were only around 50 degrees,
temperatures dropped even colder aloft, with temperatures falling below
freezing just a few thousand feet off the ground. This allowed
strong thunderstorms to develop, and the cold air was favorable for
small hail. |
