The normal average temperature for spring is 53.8 degrees for Cincinnati, 52.5 degrees for Columbus, and 51.1 degrees for Dayton.
This unusually warm spring can largely be attributed to the record breaking warm March that the area recently experienced. Average
temperatures for March 2012 finished a whopping 11 to 13 degrees above normal thanks to a persistent ridge of high pressure over the region.
Average temperatures for this April finished up right around normal. Thus, April 2012 was not a major contributor to making this the
warmest spring on record.
Finally average temperatures for this May finished around 5 to 7 degrees above normal, which also contributed to making this the warmest
spring on record. May 2012 tied for the 8th warmest May on record at Cincinnati, tied for the 2nd warmest May on record at Columbus, and
finished as the 6th warmest May on record at Dayton.
