The National Weather Service is observing Lightning
Safety Week from Sunday, June 21st until Saturday, June 27th. Lightning
is one of the nation's deadliest weather phenomena and this week is meant to
increase awareness of its frequent and dangerous nature. Lightning can
occur across the country at anytime of the year. The first step to
protecting yourself from a dangerous lightning strike is
understanding what to do when a thunderstorm is nearby. For more information on lightning
