The following is a working or "draft" document. All tornado data
contained is accurate to the best of our knowledge, but may be incomplete.
We are attempting to pull tornado historical data together from various
sources to build one single data base of all tornadoes ever recorded in
the Baltimore-Washington Forecast Office's area of responsibility. The
tornadoes are listed in chronological order by county and by state. The
counties are listed in alphabetical order. Virginia is listed first,
followed by our counties in Maryland, the District of Columbia, and West
Virginia. West Virginia data is largely missing at this point.

This small tornado formed on a bow echo and moved north. Winds were
estimated at 75 to 90 mph. It moved through the small town of Paris doing
minor damage to about 10 homes and major tree damage. It then crossed
Route 50 and took the roof and chimney off a brick house that dates back
before the civil war. The tornado continued up the hillside damaging more
trees and struck another house taking the entire top half off. This house
was very exposed and mostly glass across the front. Once the wind came in,
the roof easily was gone. One person was inside and miraculously was not
injured. He dove for cover as it hit.
