What's New at the MARFC

8 April 2002

• As of today, all products are available at www.erh.noaa.gov/er/marfc.  Please change your bookmarks to reflect the move.  Please note: the River Forecasts section has a different file structure, even though its appearance has not changed.   Update your bookmarks with caution.

8 February 2002

• Our website has begun its migration to the new address. Currently, only the home page itself is at www.erh.noaa.gov/er/marfc. Everything else is still at marfchp1.met.psu.edu/<file name>. All of the website's content will be at the new location by the end of March, so keep a lookout for changing links.

23 January 2002

• The MARFC website will be moving to a new address in February or March. Please watch the website for details as they become available.

• A map of counties under drought restrictions is now available. A PDF viewer, such as the free Adobe Acrobat Reader (no endorsement implied), is required to view this map.

• Today marks the debut of the Significant Flood Outlook product. Follow the link for more details.

• Color coding for precipitation departure maps has been revised as departure intervals have been revised.

• Current radar data is now available in real-time for the entire United States.

• We've made a few changes to the home page. Watch for more in the future!

• Advanced Hydrologic Prediction Service products are now available.

• Precipitation Forecast Maps have been added to the Maps section.

• The Hydrometeorologcal Discussion page has had a makeover.

• The Maps section has been reorganized. In addition to the new look, average precipitation maps have been added.

• We should be fully recovered from our hard drive crash and associated server move. If you find any errors we may have overlooked, please email the webmaster.

• We lost a hard drive and as a result moved our site to a different machine. There was a loss of some information with the crash but we are working hard to rebuild the site to its previous state. We apologize for the inconvenience.

• 365 day precipitation departure maps have been added to the Precipitation and Other Maps section.

• 90 day precipitation departure maps have been added to the Precipitation and Other Maps section.

• Daily precipitation maps have been added to the Precipitation and Other Maps section.

• The Spring Flooding Outlooks have begun for 1999.

• Information about research published by MARFC staff has been added to our site.

• Changes have been made with the offices that prepare the weather forecasts. Please check the Weather Forecasts page for the latest information.

• The Precipitation Departure Maps section has been revised. Rolling 30, 60, and 180 day departure maps and the associated text files have been added.

  In addition, errors were found in the February 1998 precipitation departure map. These errors have been corrected and new February 1998 maps are now available.

• The Real-time River Stages section has been revised. Please refer to the help reference within that page for additional information. This is a "framed" page and is best viewed at 1024x768 or higher screen resolution.

• Flood Potential Statements have been added to the River Forecasts section. Go see what could happen...

• The format of the Archive has changed. Please refer to that page for more details.

• Snow depth map is now available. Go the the Maps page to check it out.

• Our precipitation maps are now available in a raw text format. Go the the Maps page to check it out.

• The MARFC has a new, revamped home page. Check it out!

• The MARFC's Biweekly Water Resources Statement has joined the list of online products.

• The Flood section has been revamped. You are now invited to tell us your experiences with such famous floods as Agnes, Camille, and the like.

7 May 1997

• Fact files have been added to the Rivers of the MARFC page.

• The water temperature maps can now be clicked to get location information.

• Precipitation departure maps are now updated daily to show the departure for the current month up to the current day and for the current year up to the current day.

• Just in time for fishing season...water temperature maps! This map, updated 4 times daily, shows water temperatures in selected streams.

• A search facility has been added to the MARFC homepage. Use this if you can't find the file you've been looking for.

• A new guestbook has been introduced to the web site. The old version was hit by a search robot which caused many people to be added to a junk email list. The new version will eliminate that problem. Sorry for the inconvenience.

• The phone numbers have been updated on the How to Contact Us page.
• The Other Links page has been revised and updated.

• We've completely revamped the home page!
• A section describing our rivers has been added here.
• All the precipitation departure maps and the snow water equivalent maps have been moved here.

• The Spring Flood Potential Statement makes its debut for 1997. Check it out in the Water Supply and Regulation/Flash Flood Guidance section.

• A new page containing all the National Weather Service Offices with web sites has been added. It can be found here.

• A new product has been added to the site, the Headwater Flood Guidance. This product is an estimate of the rain needed to flood selected streams within our basins. Please check it out.

• Just how wet has it been in the past 12 months? It was so wet, we created a new set of maps just to show you! Making its debut in the Precipitation Departure Maps is the rainfall in the past 12 months map. Look here to see just how much of a soaker we've been experiencing.

• Preliminary data from the Hurricane Fran floods has now been posted.
• At long last, the disclaimer has been added.

• There is a mistake in the monthly precipitation maps. Please see that section for more details.

• The Hydrometeorological Discussion Page has a new look to it. Try it out!

• The Forecasts section has been totally revamped. Routine river statements are now shown alongside any current river flood warnings or river flood statements.
• Keep your eyes on the lookout for a revamped hydrometeorological discussion page!

• The National Hydrologic Summary has been added to the River Forecasts section. This product is issued daily Monday through Friday and summarizes the hydrologic activity that has occurred since the previous statement.
• Forms-based email has been added to these pages. Now, you have the choice of either the "mailto:" link or the form when you want to email me and tell me great this site is. ;-)
• The Photo Gallery of the Flood of 1996 has been revamped, with thumbnail pictures instead of the old, full-sized ones. This should drastically help in download times.
• Look for a revamped River Forecasts page in the near future...

• A link to real time stage data from the U.S. Geological Survey has been added.
• A list of commonly used abbreviations has been started.

• The MARFC Web Pages have gone bilingual! (in a way...) One of our rapidly growing list of access statistics generators come from across the big pond...La Belle France. The French and the English versions of the statistics can be found on the Access Statistics page.

• The Access Statistics page has been updated to include the new analysis packages I've placed on the site, wwwstat and gwstat. Stay tuned for more and more access stats!

• The Water Supply and Regulation/Flash Flood Guidance section is now open to the public. This represents the complete and total opening of the MARFC website to the public. Watch this page for future improvements!

• The Forecasts page has been updated to include the previous five forecasts that were issued by the responsible Weather Forecast Office.

• The links to the Forecasts section and the Archive was turned on today.
• We're are now almost completely open for business!

• The beginnings of the Flood of 1996 photo gallery has been added. Check it out in the Flood section.
• The Hydrometeorological Discussion (HMD) link was turned on again today.

• The archives were cleaned out today. Currently, the oldest data in the archive dates back to January 1, 1996.

• Combined the rapidly growing list of access stats into a single page. Hope this clears out some of the clutter.

• Let's try this website idea again....we're back up, partially. The only forecasts available are the public weather forecasts. All river-related stuff is still shut down.
