Radar-derived Precipitation Estimates are a combination of Radar data and rain gauge observations. These
estimates may be referred to as MPE values because they are derived by using the Multi-Sensor Precipitation
Estimator (MPE) Program. This data may also be referred to as Stage III data, because the MPE process is the
third stage of quality control on the radar-derived precipitation amounts. Hourly Radar rainfall estimates
are compared to hourly gauge values to produce hourly MPE values.
