FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR SW VA...SE WV AND NW NC
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE BLACKSBURG VA
421 AM EDT SUN APR 20 2014

.DISCUSSION...
LOW PRESSURE OFF THE SOUTHEAST COAST WILL CONTINUE TO MOVE AWAY
TODAY...LEAVING COOL AND DRY HIGH PRESSURE WEDGED AGAINST THE
EASTERN FACE OF THE APPALACHIANS. EXPECT CONTINUED EASTERLY WIND
FLOW TODAY...IN ADDITION TO INCREASING SUNSHINE HEADING INTO THE
AFTERNOON. WINDS WILL GRADUALLY TURN MORE SOUTHWEST MONDAY AND
INCREASE IN SPEED ON TUESDAY AS THE HIGH SLIDES EAST AND THE NEXT
COLD FRONT APPROACHES FROM THE WEST.

MOISTURE ASSOCIATED WITH THIS FRONT WILL BRING THE NEXT CHANCE OF
WETTING RAINFALL IN THE FORM OF SCATTERED SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS
TUESDAY AFTERNOON. HIGH PRESSURE ALONG WITH GUSTY NORTHWEST WINDS
AND MUCH DRIER AIR FOLLOWS THE FRONT ON WEDNESDAY.
