FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR SW VA...SE WV AND NW NC
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE BLACKSBURG VA
445 AM EST SUN DEC 21 2014

.DISCUSSION...
EXPECT LIGHT WINDS AND DECREASING CLOUD COVER THROUGH THIS AFTERNOON
AS HIGH PRESSURE CONTROLS THE WEATHER PATTERN. THE HIGH WILL SHIFT
EAST THROUGH THE DAY...AND BEGIN BUILDING SOUTHWARD ACROSS NEW ENGLAND
AND THE MID ATLANTIC TONIGHT TO WEDGE AGAINST THE EASTERN FACE OF THE
APPALACHIANS. WETTING PRECIPITATION CHANCES WILL INCREASE SIGNIFICANTLY
LATE TONIGHT AS LOW PRESSURE DEVELOPS ALONG THE SOUTHEAST COAST AND
PUSHES NORTHEAST. AREAS OF THE MOUNTAINS CAN EXPECT RAIN...FREEZING
RAIN AND SLEET...WHILE MAINLY RAIN WILL FALL EAST OF THE BLUE RIDGE.

A VERY STRONG COLD FRONT WILL MOVE THROUGH THE REGION ON WEDNESDAY...
BRINGING RAIN AND GUSTY WINDS TO THE AREA FOR CHRISTMAS EVE.
