A FAST-MOVING STORM WILL AFFECT THE REGION OVER THE NEXT 24 HOURS OR SO
WITH RAINFALL BEGINNING IN THE WEST THIS AFTERNOON FOLLOWED BY WINTRY 
CONDITIONS IN THE HIGH COUNTRY OF NORTH CAROLINA...AND INTO THE HIGHER
ELEVATIONS OF FAR WESTERN VIRGINIA IN THE VICINITY OF MOUNT ROGERS LATE
TONIGHT AND SATURDAY. ELEVATIONS ABOVE 3000 FEET WILL SEE THE GREATEST 
WINTRY IMPACT AND SNOW ACCUMULATIONS. SOME LIGHTER ACCUMULATIONS OF SNOW
ARE ALSO POSSIBLE IN THE WEST VIRGINIA HIGHLANDS AND ALONG THE VIRGINIA-WEST
VIRGINIA BORDER. NO SNOW ACCUMULATION IS ANTICIPATED IN THE LOWER ELEVATIONS 
WHERE MOSTLY RAIN WILL OCCUR. LIQUID EQUIVALENT RAIN OR SNOW AMOUNTS WILL A 
QUARTER /0.25/ TO THREE QUARTERS /0.75/ OF AN INCH. STRONG NORTHWEST 
WINDS ARE EXPECTED TO DEVELOP ON THE BACK SIDE OF THE STORM SYSTEM...
BEGINNING SATURDAY AFTERNOON AND CONTINUING INTO EARLY SUNDAY BEFORE 
DIMINISHING.

THE SURGE OF COLD CANADIAN AIR THIS WEEKEND WILL PRODUCE A HARD/KILLING 
FREEZE IN THE MOUNTAINS WITH TEMPERATURES DIPPING INTO THE 20S. 
FREEZING TEMPERATURES ARE ALSO EXPECTED EAST OF THE MOUNTAINS SUNDAY NIGHT.

WARMER TEMPERATURES AND DRY WEATHER IS EXPECTED THE FIRST HALF OF NEXT WEEK.
