From the Guide... "In addition to wind, tornadoes, and storm surge flooding, a fourth tropical cyclone-associated menace exists - inland fresh-water flooding.   Tropical cyclones can have life-threatening impacts hundreds of miles inland, and the public should be aware of and alert for the heavy rains, lightning, and the floods and flash floods these disturbances can bring." 

This Guide provides a historical perspective of the major tropical cyclone-associated inland flooding events, as well as National Weather Service definitions, and information on what preparedness steps you and your community can take to keep yourselves safe.
