MITCHELL COUNTY REPORTED ROADS OK...PERIODS OF HEAVY SNOW AT GLEN 
AYRE...WITH 2 INCHES OF SNOW ON THE GRASSY AREAS.

YANCEY COUNTY REPORTED...SNOWING AND WINDY AT THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS
AROUND BURNSVILLE...WITH 31 DEGREES. FOR THE SOUTH END OF THE
COUNTY...AROUND 2 INCHES OF SNOW...WITH NO ROAD PROBLEMS.

GRAHAM...HAYWOOD...AND JACKSON COUNTIES REPORTED FLURRIES AND 
LIGHT WINDS WITH NO PROBLEMS.

BUNCOMBE COUNTY REPORTED ONE OR TWO TREES DOWN...SNOWING AS HARD AS
THEY HAD EVER SEEN...BUT IT MELTED.

SPOTTER IN MOORESVILLE AND JUST SOUTH OF WESTERN ROWAN COUNTY...
REPORTED A FEW TREES DOWN WITH STRUCTURAL DAMAGE...ONE TREE WAS
DOWN ACROSS THE ROAD...AND LOTS OF POWER LINES DOWN OVER AREA...
WITH LOTS OF GRASS FIRES.

THE MOUNT MITCHELL STATE PARK JUST REPORTED THAT 4 INCHES OF SNOW
HAD ACCUMULATED...AND THE TEMPERATURE WAS 14 DEGREES.

AROUND NOON...A PUBLIC REPORT WAS RECEIVED OF WIND GUSTS TO 35 TO 40
MPH...WITH SNOW SHOWERS...AT JONESVILLE SOUTH CAROLINA.

AMATEUR RADIO SPOTTERS HAVE BEEN REPORTING NUMEROUS GUSTS TO MORE
THAN 40 MPH IN VARIOUS PARTS OF THE NORTH CAROLINA PIEDMONT AND
FOOTHILLS.

AT THE SPENCER MOUNTAIN WEATHER RADIO TRANSMISSION SITE IN GASTON
COUNTY NORTH CAROLINA...A TECHNICIAN REPORTED THAT 60 FEET UP THE
TOWER...WINDS WERE SUSTAINED AT 50 TO 60 MPH...MUCH LESS WIND AT THE
SURFACE.

A MADISON COUNTY SPOTTER 2 MILES WEST OF PETERSBURG HEAVY SNOW WITH
THE GROUND WHITE. THIS WAS AT AN ELEVATION ABOUT 1500 FEET ABOVE
THE VALLEY...OR AROUND 3800 FEET ABOVE SEA LEVEL.

THE MADISON COUNTY COMMUNICATIONS CENTER REPORTED THAT DEPARTMENT OF
TRANSPORTATION EQUIPMENT HAD BEEN DISPATCHED TO SAMS GAP FOR SNOW
REMOVAL.

THE MADISON COUNTY EOC REPORTED HEAVY SNOW IN MARSHALL...BUT NO
PROBLEMS WITH ACCUMULATIONS YET. THE SNOW WAS LAYING ON VEHICLES AND
THE GROUND WAS BECOMING WHITE.

THE YANCEY COUNTY SHERIFF DEPARTMENT REPORTED THAT HIGH ELEVATIONS
HAD SNOW COVER VISIBLE FROM BELOW...MODERATE SNOW IN BURNSVILLE WITH
37 DEGREES.

MITCHELL COUNTY REPORTED SNOW HAD ACCUMULATED IN GRASSY AREAS IN THE
GLEN AYRE COMMUNITY NEAR ROAN MOUNTAIN. IN SPRUCE PINE...MODERATE
SNOW WAS FALLING BUT NOT ACCUMULATING.

BEECH MOUNTAIN POLICE IN AVERY COUNTY REPORTED THAT THE SNOW HAD STOPPED
FOR THE TIME BEING...WITH AN INCH TO AN INCH AND A HALF OF WET
SLUSHY SNOW ON THE GROUND.

AN AMATEUR RADIO SPOTTER 16 MILES WEST OF ROBBINSVILLE...AT 4000
FEET ELEVATION...REPORTED HEAVY SNOW...TEMPERATURE 27 DEGREES...AND
NEAR WHITE OUT CONDITIONS. THE SNOW HAD COVERED THE GROUND IN THE
PAST 30 MINUTES.
