...TORNADO DAMAGE NEAR MOORE IN SPARTANBURG COUNTY...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN GREENVILLE-SPARTANBURG HAS SURVEYED
DAMAGE PRODUCED BY A TORNADO FRIDAY AFTERNOON. A DAMAGE PATH
MEASURING ONE-QUARTER MILE LONG AND 50 YARDS WIDE WAS OBSERVED
EXTENDING FROM BETHANY CHURCH ROAD TO ROUTE 290 NORTHWEST OF MOORE
IN SPARTANBURG COUNTY.

THE TORNADO TOUCHED DOWN AT 310 PM TOTALLY DESTROYING 2 SHEDS AND
PARTIALLY BLOWING THE ROOF OFF A LARGER SHED. SEVERAL EIGHT INCH
DIAMETER PINE TREES WERE SNAPPED...AND THERE WERE NUMEROUS BROKEN
LIMBS SCATTERED ALONG THE DAMAGE PATH. ESTIMATED WIND SPEEDS WERE 70
MPH...WHICH IS EQUIVALENT TO F0 ON THE FUJITA SCALE.
