THE NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER HAS ISSUED A
TORNADO WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF 
   
       EXTREME NORTHEAST GEORGIA
       SOUTH-CENTRAL NORTH CAROLINA
       NORTHWEST AND CENTRAL SOUTH CAROLINA
   
EFFECTIVE THIS FRIDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING FROM 1240 PM UNTIL
900 PM EST.
   
TORNADOES...HAIL TO 1 INCH IN DIAMETER...THUNDERSTORM WIND GUSTS
TO 70 MPH...AND DANGEROUS LIGHTNING ARE POSSIBLE IN THESE AREAS.
   
THE TORNADO WATCH AREA IS APPROXIMATELY ALONG AND 75 STATUTE
MILES NORTH AND SOUTH OF A LINE FROM 50 MILES SOUTHWEST OF
ANDERSON SOUTH CAROLINA TO 45 MILES NORTHEAST OF COLUMBIA SOUTH

REMEMBER...A TORNADO WATCH MEANS CONDITIONS ARE FAVORABLE FOR
TORNADOES AND SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS IN AND CLOSE TO THE WATCH
AREA. PERSONS IN THESE AREAS SHOULD BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR
THREATENING WEATHER CONDITIONS AND LISTEN FOR LATER STATEMENTS
AND POSSIBLE WARNINGS.

DISCUSSION...NARROW LINE OF INTENSE CONVECTION CONTINUES MOVING NEWD
AT UP TO 40KT INTO EXTREME NERN GA ATTM. ACTIVITY IS EXPECTED TO
MAINTAIN INTENSITY AS IT MOVES INTO WARM AND MOIST AIR MASS ACROSS
NWRN SC AND THE NC PIEDMONT AREAS THROUGH LATE AFTERNOON. ALREADY
STRONG LOW LEVEL SHEAR PROFILES ARE EXPECTED TO STRENGTHEN FURTHER
AND SHOULD CONTRIBUTE TO STORM ORGANIZATION/PERSISTENCE AND
INTENSITY. IN ADDITION TO BOWLING LINE SEGMENTS WITH DAMAGING
WINDS...A COUPLE OF TORNADOES APPEAR POSSIBLE FROM MESOCYCLONES
EMBEDDED WITHIN THE SQUALL LINE.
   
AVIATION...TORNADOES AND A FEW SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS WITH HAIL
SURFACE AND ALOFT TO 1 INCH. EXTREME TURBULENCE AND SURFACE WIND
GUSTS TO 60 KNOTS. A FEW CUMULONIMBI WITH MAXIMUM TOPS TO 450.
