THE NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER HAS ISSUED A
TORNADO WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF 
   
       EASTERN GEORGIA
       SOUTHWESTERN NORTH CAROLINA
       WESTERN SOUTH CAROLINA
   
EFFECTIVE THIS THURSDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING FROM 430 PM UNTIL
1100 PM EDT.
   
TORNADOES...HAIL TO 1 INCH IN DIAMETER...THUNDERSTORM WIND GUSTS
TO 70 MPH...AND DANGEROUS LIGHTNING ARE POSSIBLE IN THESE AREAS.
   
THE TORNADO WATCH AREA IS APPROXIMATELY ALONG AND 80 STATUTE
MILES EAST AND WEST OF A LINE FROM 20 MILES EAST NORTHEAST OF
SPARTANBURG SOUTH CAROLINA TO 55 MILES SOUTH OF MACON GEORGIA.

REMEMBER...A TORNADO WATCH MEANS CONDITIONS ARE FAVORABLE FOR
TORNADOES AND SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS IN AND CLOSE TO THE WATCH
AREA. PERSONS IN THESE AREAS SHOULD BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR
THREATENING WEATHER CONDITIONS AND LISTEN FOR LATER STATEMENTS
AND POSSIBLE WARNINGS.
   
OTHER WATCH INFORMATION...CONTINUE...WW 65...
   
DISCUSSION...STORMS WILL LIKELY CONTINUE DEVELOPING ALONG AND AHEAD
OF EWD ADVANCING COLD FRONT INTO THE EVENING. MLCAPE FROM 500 TO
1000 J/KG AND 0-6 KM SHEAR OF 40-50 KT WILL SUPPORT POTENTIAL FOR
LEWPS AND SUPERCELLS WITH DEVELOPING STORMS. IN ADDITION 0-1 KM
STORM RELATIVE HELICITY OF 200-250 M2/S2 WILL CONTRIBUTE TO A THREAT
OF LOW LEVEL MESOCYCLONES AND ISOLATED TORNADOES.
   
AVIATION...TORNADOES AND A FEW SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS WITH HAIL
SURFACE AND ALOFT TO 1 INCH. EXTREME TURBULENCE AND SURFACE WIND
GUSTS TO 60 KNOTS. A FEW CUMULONIMBI WITH MAXIMUM TOPS TO 400.
