NOAA Weather Radio broadcasts can usually be heard within a 40 mile radius of the antenna site, sometimes more. The effective range depends on many factors, particularly the height of the broadcasting antenna, terrain, quality of the receiver, and type of receiving antenna. The map below shows transmitter locations in our County Warning Area (CWA), as well as transmitters close to our CWA.

The following is a list of the counties for which normal programming over each transmitter is tailored. Click on the station ID to see a map of the broadcast service area:

  • WWH-24 -- Coverage Map:
    • In Georgia: Banks, Franklin, Habersham, Hall, Hart, Lumpkin, Rabun, Stephens, and White.
    • In South Carolina: Oconee.
  • KXI-81 -- Coverage Map:
    • In Georgia: Banks, Habersham, Hall, Lumpkin, Rabun, Towns, and White.
    • In North Carolina: Macon.
    • In South Carolina: Oconee.
  • WXJ-21-- Coverage Map:
    • In South Carolina: Abbeville, Anderson, Cherokee, Greenville, Greenwood, Laurens, Newberry, Oconee, Pickens, Spartanburg, and Union.
    • In North Carolina: Polk and Rutherford.
    • In Georgia: Elbert, Franklin, Habersham, Hart, Rabun, and Stephens.
  • KHC-27 -- Coverage Map:
    • In the Piedmont of South Carolina: Cherokee, Chester, Lancaster, Fairfield, York, and Union.
    • And in North Carolina...Cleveland, Mecklenburg, and Union.
  • WNG-538 -- Coverage Map:
    • In North Carolina: Alexander, Avery, Burke, Caldwell, Catawba, Iredell, McDowell, Mitchell, Rutherford, Watauga, and Yancey.
  • WXL-56 -- Coverage Map:
    • In North Carolina: Buncombe, Burke, Caldwell, Haywood, Henderson, Jackson, Madison, McDowell, Mitchell, Polk, Rutherford, Transylvania, and Yancey.
