This Nor'easter is also referred to as the Superstorm of 1993. Surface Low pressure initially developed near Brownsville, Texas and moved northeast along a stationary front into the Southeast, spawning a destructive line of thunderstorms (Fig. 1). Damaging downbursts, killer tornadoes and destructive flooding followed. The storm deepened further as two short wave troughs merged aloft. Winds reached 101 mph on Flattop Mountain, NC.
