During the evening of September 6th, 2011 an EF-0 tornado touched down in the Rennert community
of northern Robeson County, NC, damaging three mobile homes and destroying a
barn. Damage was also reported to a pump house, an above-ground swimming
pool, and nearby trees. Fortunately there were no injuries or fatalities.

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN WILMINGTON NC HAS CONFIRMED A
TORNADO NEAR RENNERT IN ROBESON COUNTY NORTH CAROLINA ON SEPTEMBER
THE TORNADO TOUCHED DOWN JUST SOUTH OF WEST GREAT MARSH CHURCH
ROAD CAUSING SOME TREES TO BECOME UPROOTED. THE TORNADO MOVED
NORTH CROSSING THE ROAD UPROOTING A FEW TREES NEAR A FIELD. THE
TORNADO PEAKED AT 85 MPH SOUTH OF VASQUEZ ROAD WHERE IT DESTROYED
A POORLY CONSTRUCTED BARN AND SINGLE WIDE TRAILER THAT WAS USED
FOR STORAGE. THE TORNADO ALSO CAUSED MINOR DAMAGE TO A DOUBLE WIDE HOME
NEARBY WITH DAMAGE TO THE FOUNDATION AND ABOVE GROUND SWIMMING
POOL...ROOF SHINGLES AND PUMP HOUSE. AS THE TORNADO NEARED VASQUEZ
ROAD IT PEELED THE METAL ROOF (>20%) OFF ANOTHER DOUBLE WIDE
HOME. IT DESTROYED THE BACK PORCH OF THIS HOME AND UPROOTED
SEVERAL TREES. THE TORNADO CROSSED VASQUEZ ROAD AND MOVED NORTH
INTO A WOODED AREA UPROOTING A FEW TREES. THE TORNADO THEN MOVED
NORTH OF COVINGTON FARM ROAD AND DISSIPATED.
