1991 brought one system close to the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Bob developed August 16th about 200 miles east of Nassau in the Bahamas. Bob moved northwest and then north passing 30 to 35 miles east of Cape Hatteras early on the 19th. Bob move inland as a category two hurricane on the 19th Rhode Island. Four confirmed tornadoes occurred in North Carolina as Bob passed by and there were nine unconfirmed tornadoes reported in the wooded areas of Hatteras Island. 5.30 inches of rain was recorded at Cape Hatteras.
