The buoy in this photo is to alert boaters of
shallow water due to the sand bar pictured here. As we can see,
the sandbar has been completely exposed. As of August 7, 2007, the elevation of East Fork
Lake was 729.0 feet. This is 4 feet below the average summer level
of 733 feet.
Southern Ohio continues to be plagued with
much-below average rainfall for most of 2007. Currently, the
U.S. Drought
Monitor has classified much of Ohio as D1, or moderate drought.
Portions of far southern Ohio, including portions of Clermont County, have been
classified as D2, or severe drought. D2 conditions extend
southward into parts of northern Kentucky.
