Additional notes
Southern Ohio continues to be plagued with
much-below average rainfall for most of 2007. Currently, the
U.S. Drought
Monitor has classified much of the southern half of Ohio as D1 and D2, or moderate
and severe drought respectively.
Portions of far southern Ohio, including portions of Hamilton County, have been
classified as D3, or extreme drought. D3 conditions extend
southward into parts of northern Kentucky. In Cincinnati, total
rainfall for the summer (June through August) was close to only a third
of normal. This was the third driest such period on record.
