Additional notes
|
The remnants of Hurricane Ike merged with a frontal boundary and
swept through the Ohio Valley on Sunday, September 14. An intense
pressure gradient to the south of this system resulted in widespread
winds gusts of 50 to 75 mph across much of Indiana, Ohio and northern
Kentucky. These winds persisted for several hours which caused
very widespread damage with downed trees and power lines, damage to
structures, and numerous structure fires. The wind storm left over
1 million people without power across Wilmington's forecast area and
resulted in 4 fatalities. |
