Cirrus
clouds are composed of ice crystals very high in the
atmosphere. They typically indicate fair weather, and point in the
direction of the upper level wind flow. The streaks toward the
bottom center of the photo were formed form ice crystals falling out of
thicker cirrus clouds and being carried by the wind.
