    Additional notes
The damage in this photo is consistent with a high-end EF2 tornado.  It generally takes winds of 120 to 140 mph to remove large sections of roof while most walls remain standing.  Other homes and businesses were more severely damaged, and this tornado was rated an F3 on the old Fujita Scale.

This tornado was a reminder that the Ohio Valley has a secondary severe weather season in October and November.

Safety Note: Roofs are the most common portion of a home to suffer damage in a tornado.  When the roof is lifted off, walls surrounding large rooms or garages lose their support and may collapse.  This is why it is important to move to a small interior room when a tornado warning is issued.
