(for frequent cloud to ground lightning)

Safety Note: While the interior of a home or office provides some safety in an electrical storm, it is important to avoid anything that is in contact with the electrical wiring or plumbing fixtures because they easily conduct the lightning's deadly current.  In fact, lightning can travel long distances through telephone and electrical wiring, and it doesn't have to hit a home for it's current to reach inside.  For this reason, telephone use is the leading cause of indoor lightning-related injuries.  Never use the telephone or any device plugged into the wall during a thunderstorm (cordless phones and cell phones are ok).

Be aware that the National Weather Service does not issue warnings for lightning, no matter how frequent it is.  This because all
thunderstorms produce lightning, and any bolt could be fatal.  For this reason, it is important that all thunderstorms be taken seriously, and that precautions be taken any time thunder is heard.
