The pattern of the crop damage in
this photo indicates the damage was caused by a tornado. Near the
center of the photo, the crops are converging toward the center of the
tornado's path (which moved from the upper right toward the lower left). If the damage were caused by
straight-line winds
or a
microburst, the crop damage pattern would be unidirectional or
fanned out. Notice how the damage path is aimed directly at the
home toward the bottom left, yet there is no visible damage to the
house. This suggests this tornado was very weak (it was rated
F0
on the old Fujita scale).
