Additional notes
A strong
downburst hit Mineral Springs Lake on July 15, 2007 knocking
several trees down and damaging several campers. No injuries were
reported.
NWS product to cover this event:
Severe Thunderstorm Warning
Safety Note:
Straight-line winds
can be very dangerous, even deadly. As seen here, these winds
caused a tree or tree limb to fall on this vehicle and caused heavy
damage. Thankfully no one was in the vehicle at the time, but it
is easy to see how a person can be seriously injured or killed by trees
falling on vehicles. If you are in a vehicle when a severe
thunderstorm warning is issued, pull off the road in an open area away
from trees or other objects which may fall on your car.
