This thunderstorm over southeast Indiana was not severe, but produced
hundreds of cloud-to-ground lightning strikes within just a few minutes. Note that the
National Weather Service will only issue a warning for a thunderstorm if
it is producing strong winds, hail, or a tornado - a warning will not be
issued for lightning alone. However, just because the NWS has not issued a warning does
not mean that a thunderstorm should not be taken seriously.
Frequent cloud-to-ground lightning is extremely dangerous.
