Christmas Day Climatology

Here is a look at some Christmas Day Weather Statistics for our local climatological data sites since weather records have been kept. Records go back to 1871 for Cincinnati, 1878 for Columbus, and 1893 for Dayton.

The National Climatic Data Center (NCDC) recently released a new "White Christmas" probability map based on the 1981-2010 data normals. This map incorporates data from observing stations with at least 25 years or more of snow data. A "White Christmas" is defined as having a snow depth of one inch or more on Christmas Morning.
