March 1, 2005
Lake Effect Snow

A low pressure system moved from the eastern Great Lakes into New England, keeping strong northwesterly flow off Lake Michigan. This consistent flow off Lake Michigan along with an upper level disturbance caused a Lake Effect band from Lake Michigan to stay together all the way into central Ohio. This band created generally 2 to 4 inches of snow across west central Ohio and central Ohio.

Image depicting snowfall from for March 1st. Generally 2 to 4 inches fell north of I-70 with a few locals seeing 5 inches.
Image (6 pm EST) shows the snow band off Lake Michigan all the way into central Ohio.
Image (9 am EST) shows snow cover over Indiana and Ohio on March 3rd, two days after the snowfall.
