A slow-moving cold front interacted with an unseasonably moist late-spring airmass over the Ohio Valley May 1 and 2. This led to numerous rounds of rain and thunderstorms, some of which produced widespread heavy rain. The heaviest rain fell across southern Ohio and Kentucky, where numerous reports of flooding were received. Rainfall amounts ranged from 1-2" across southern and central Ohio, to 2-4" near and south of the Ohio River, with some reports exceeding 5".
