...SUMMARY...
THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN WILMINGTON OH HAS CONFIRMED A
TORNADO IN THE EXTREME NORTHEAST CORNER OF MIAMI COUNTY OHIO ON
OCTOBER 31 2013...AT APPROXIMATELY 11:38 PM EDT.

A GROUND SURVEY ALONG LENA-PALESTINE ROAD IN MIAMI COUNTY REVEALED A
BRIEF...WEAK TORNADO OCCURRED...DEMOLISHING A BARN AND DAMAGING
ANOTHER.

ANALYSIS OF A CORN FIELD ON THE WEST SIDE OF LENA-PALESTINE ROAD
REVEALED A CLEAR PATH OF HEAVILY DAMAGED CORN STALKS LEANING OR
BROKEN OFF TO TO THE NORTH. JUST BEYOND THIS PATH OF DAMAGED
CORN...AND ACROSS LENA-PALESTINE ROAD...WAS A LARGE BARN THAT WAS
DESTROYED...WITH DEBRIS STREWN TO THE NORTH AND EVEN UPWIND IN SOME
INSTANCES OF THE PROJECTED PATH OF THE TORNADO. IN PARTICULAR...A
LARGE PORTION OF BARN ROOF WAS LIFTED AND THROWN UPWIND INTO THE TOP
OF A NEARBY LARGE TREE...STRONGLY SUGGESTING A GROUND BASED
CIRCULATION. A CORN FIELD BEHIND THE BARN ALSO SHOWED SIMILAR DAMAGE
PATTERNS TO THE FIELD ON THE WEST SIDE OF LENA-PALESTINE ROAD. A
SECOND BARN NORTH OF THE DESTROYED BARN SUFFERED HEAVY DAMAGE. MUD
SPATTER WAS ALSO OBSERVED ON THE SOUTH AND EAST FACING SIDES OF
STRUCTURES ON THE PROPERTY FURTHER CONFIRMING A BRIEF...WEAK TORNADO
WHICH WAS MOVING EAST-NORTHEAST.

A LARGE TREE WAS ALSO SPLIT NEAR THE DEMOLISHED BARN. THE DAMAGE
IS CONSISTENT WITH WIND SPEEDS AROUND 75 MPH.
