AFTER A REVIEW OF NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE AND FEDERAL AVIATION
ADMINISTRATION WEATHER RADARS...AND A GROUND SURVEY BY THE
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE...THE BALTIMORE/WASHINGTON WEATHER
FORECAST OFFICE OF THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS DETERMINED
THAT A BRIEF WEAK TORNADO STRUCK THE COMMUNITY OF MARBELLA IN
NORTHERN WALDORF DURING THE EARLY MORNING HOURS OF TUESDAY APRIL
5TH. THE STORM WAS RATED AS AN EF-0 ON THE ENHANCED FUJITA SCALE
WITH PEAK WIND SPEEDS AROUND 65 MPH. DAMAGE INCLUDED A LARGE PINE
TREE BLOWN OVER INTO A HOUSE ROOF...SEVERAL ORNAMENTAL COMMUNITY
TREES SNAPPED...DAMAGE TO A FENCE...AND MANY SMALL WINDBLOWN
OUTDOOR OBJECTS.

THE TORNADO WAS PRODUCED FROM A SQUALL LINE OF THUNDERSTORMS THAT
MOVED ACROSS THE REGION IN THE EARLY AFTERNOON. IT ONLY TRACKED
ABOUT A TENTH OF A MILE BEFORE DISSIPATING AFTER LESS THAN A
MINUTE ON THE GROUND.
