Skywarn™ Patches

        In an effort to recognize the volunteer services afforded by many Skywarn™ trained spotters in this area, Jerry Bricker (N3IOU), a member of the volunteer Skywarn™ Advisory Committee of the National Weather Service, Baltimore-Washington Forecast Office, designed a Skywarn™ circular patch. This three inch, 100% embroidered patch includes the familiar eye vision of an approaching tornado. NWS is written at the top to highlight the service to the National Weather Service (NWS). The word SKYWARN™ has been converted to a curved rocker format at the bottom. The patch design was reviewed and approved by the members of the Skywarn™ Advisory Committee and it was copyrighted.

        The Maryland State Council of REACT Teams, Inc. (MSCRT), in support of the Memorandum of Understanding between the NWS and REACT International, is offering this patch to all Skywarn™ trained spotters. All proceeds above cost recovery will go to the MSCRT to further their public service activities including Skywarn™ promotion and training.

        The Council is offering the patches at $3.00 each (includes all mailing and packaging costs) for up to four patches. The cost drops to $2.75 per patch when five or more patches are ordered together. Make check or money order out to "MSCRT Patches" and mail your order to: 

 Orders with money orders, certified, or bank checks will be shipped within a week. Please allow three to four weeks for shipments ordered with personal checks.

        These patches look especially nice on either all black or white baseball caps. Because of the predominance of black thread in the patch, the use of chlorine bleach is not recommended.

        Show your pride in being an active Skywarn™ spotter by wearing this new patch. Help Skywarn™ advertise this vital volunteer service to get more interested in becoming an active amateur spotter.
