2005 Pennsylvania Farm Show
Pictures taken January 15, 2005
The collocated NWS offices of the
Middle Atlantic River Forecast Center and WFO State College along with
members from WFO Pittsburgh and WFO Mount Holly participated in the
annual 2005 Pennsylvania Farm Show held in Harrisburg, PA. The event
typically draws an estimated crowd of 500,000 people. This year’s show
commenced on Saturday, January 8th and continued through
Saturday, January 15th.
NWS staff members manned a booth at
the Farm Show where an estimated 4,000 people stopped by to pick up
brochures, swap stories and chat about weather and hydrology. Brochures
on Winter Weather, Tornadoes and Thunderstorms and Floods were handed
out along with many Cloud Charts. Also available at the booth were the
latest weather forecasts, current conditions and river forecasts via NWS
internet sites. Staff members also educated the public on NWS web pages
which now include newer products and services such as AHPS and NDFD.

on the poster are the 7 NWS offices that serve Pennsylvania (WFOs
State College, Pittsburgh, Mt Holly, Binghamton, Cleveland and the
Middle Atlantic River Forecast Center and Ohio River Forecast
Center), the NWS Mission Statement and many weather related
photos. |

Welcome to the National Weather Service booth!
Meet (from left to right) Hydrologist Ted Rodgers (Middle Atlantic
River Forecast Center), Data Acquisition Program Manager Bob
Coblentz (WFO Pittsburgh) and Meteorologist-Intern Paul Head (WFO
State College). We are prepared to answer any question you might
throw our way. |

A young aspiring meteorologist is mesmerized by
the Tornado video playing on the monitor. This scene was common
throughout the show especially with children between the ages of 4
and 10. |
