Snowfall Analysis from 28-29 October 2011
The image above is a snowfall analysis from the following web site: http://www.srh.noaa.gov/ridge2/snow/ Summary: The combination of high pressure over New England brought down unseasonably cold air over the Ohio Valley on 28 and 29 October 2011. As a low pressure system moved up the east coast, precipitation fell in the form of a wet snow Friday afternoon through Saturday morning over northern West Virginia, western Maryland, and southwestern Pennsylvania. Snowfall amounts ranged from 6 to 10 inches over the higher elevations of Preston and Tucker Counties in West Virginia, Garrett County Maryland, and the ridges in eastern Westmorleand and Fayette Counties. This resulted in power outages and down tree limbs across the aforementioned area. Most of the snow fell on grassy surfaces, while road surfaces remained too warm for any accumulation.
