THE FOLLOWING ARE UNOFFICIAL OBSERVATIONS TAKEN DURING THE RECENT
SNOW EVENT WHICH AFFECTED OUR REGION. APPRECIATION IS EXTENDED
TO HIGHWAY DEPARTMENTS, COOPERATIVE OBSERVERS, SKYWARN SPOTTERS AND 
THE MEDIA FOR THESE REPORTS. THIS SUMMARY IS ALSO AVAILABLE ON OUR
HOME PAGE AT, WEATHER.GOV/PHI

TIGHT SNOWFALL GRADIENTS WERE OBSERVED WITH THIS STORM, AS WELL AS 
EXTENSIVE BLOWING AND DRIFTING (DRIFTS 1 TO NEARLY 2 FEET DEEP IN 
SOME AREAS). THE STRONG WINDS MADE IT VERY DIFFICULT FOR SNOW 
MEASURING, THEREFORE THANKS TOO EVERYONE FOR THE EXTRA EFFORT. EVEN 
SOME THUNDERSNOW WAS REPORTED IN CENTRAL AND SOUTHERN NEW JERSEY.

THE SNOWFALL DATA.

AS A SIDE NOTE, STRONG WINDS CAUSED BLOW OUT TIDES ON THE DELAWARE
RIVER. AT PHILADELPHIA, THE LOWEST WATER LEVEL WAS 3.1 FEET BELOW
MEAN LOWER LOW WATER AT 9:18 AM THIS MORNING, WHICH IS A RECORD. 
THE PREVIOUS RECORD FOR PHILADELPHIA WAS 2.9 FEET BELOW MEAN
LOWER LOW WATER ON JANUARY 17, 2000 AND NOVEMBER 14, 2003.
