On this date in weather history... In 1997, a localized downburst hit the Parkersburg Airport. The tower was briefly evacuated as the personnel thought the windows were going to be blown in. The anemometer at the airport indicated the winds reached 81 mph. Fourteen vehicles at the airport had windows broken.
