Hello Everyone,

My name is Hendricus Lulofs.   This past Spring I joined the team at the National Weather Service (NWS) office in Blacksburg as the new Warning Coordination Meteorologist (WCM).   My family and I moved here from Caribou, Maine where I was also the WCM.  We are very excited about my new job assignment, as well as participating in new adventures and enjoying the quality of life that this region offers.

A little about myself and our family.  Im 40 years old, married, and have 2 sons.  Ive been married to my wife Ann for 15 years.   I was born in The Netherlands and moved to the U.S. when I was 7.  I attended Lyndon State College in Vermont and worked as a Television and Radio meteorologist for 5 years before joining the NWS in 1991.

My previous job assignments in the NWS include stops at Caribou, Maine, Marquette, Michigan, and Portland, Maine.  While at these locations Ive had the opportunity to work with various members in the emergency management community as well as work with the media and public.  I much enjoy working with school kids and help them learn about the weather.  My job has also given me the opportunity to travel.  In late 2002 I traveled to Guam to be part of the Super Typhoon Pongsonga service assessment team and in 2003I was sent to Sterling, VA to assist with hurricane Isabel.

My hobbies include golfing (both regular and disc), fishing (let me know of any good spots!), capturing and false coloring polar orbiting satellite (see: http://users.adelphia.net/~hlulofs/ ), and firing up the barbeque!

I look forward to meeting and working with many of you in the future!

Sincerely,

             Hendricus Lulofs
