Speaker Notes:
-
If you hear thunder, you are in danger of being struck by lightning.
-
Once you hear thunder, move to a safe location, preferably indoors away from windows. It’s usually safe to resume outdoor activities 30 minutes after the last rumble of thunder.
-
If you have a land-line phone, do not use it during an electrical storm except for extreme emergencies. Cordless phones and cell phone are O.K. to use.
-
If you are outside and do not have an indoor shelter available, you can go inside a hard-topped vehicle for protection. It’s NOT the rubber tires that provide the protection. The ‘frame’ around the vehicle distributes the current (Faraday Chamber)
