The expected wind direction during a three-hour time period, using the 8 points of a compass (e.g., W, NW, N. . . etc.). WIND DIR is FROM the direction the wind is blowing, and is available out to 48 hours into the future. LIGHT wind means the wind is forecast to be less than 3 miles per hour.
